A matter of respect
There is no doubt that we live in turbulent times. Just turn on the news or scroll through Facebook and you will see hundreds of arguments ranging over dozens of tops. Politically we are in an era that can be categorized by controversy, and it seems like every day new controversies are sprouting up.
We are well aware that we have members across a wide spectrum of beliefs, spiritually, personally, and politically. This is a good thing, to disagree with one another is the threads to the fabric that is the American way.
However, there are some expectations to be met. This is an expectation of basic respect, or at least basic human decency. We expect our members to conduct themselves professionally, and we will not tolerate mistreatment of our membership. This is not just about direct insults or open hostility, but includes behavior that is condescending or disrespectful in an obfuscated way.
It is not our intention to prohibit debate, in fact we encourage it. We simply believe that we can do so in an intelligent and respectful manner and leave emotion out of it. The Union Auxiliary Guard is about fraternal unity, it doesn't mean we all agree, it means we are all working towards the same goal. We believe the same applies to our country, just because we do not agree on what is best for it does not mean we do not all want to make it better. Disagreement is healthy, but we need to be able to do it in a healthy manner.
I genuinely wish none of this needed to be said, but the reality is that it does. So know this: We will not tolerate disrespect on this page, or in the UAG Facebook group, or any of the groups for the Order of Jerusalem - Militia of the Holy Ghost or our sister orders. The determination if conduct is disrespectful is at the discretion of the Commander of the Order MH Troy Thompson, or the Chief of Staff Devin Wielar. If you do not like this then the UAG and the OJ-MHG is not for you. We would rather have an empty membership than provide another place for hostility to thrive as it is against our goals to our small part to make the world a better place.
Now that has been said we can continue on with sharing historical discussion, loving our hobby and giving glory to our Lord and honors to the Omukama of Bunyoro - Kitara. God bless you all. Slainte.
